Summary
Digital ortho imagery (DOI) serve a variety of purposes, from interim maps to field references for investigations and analysis. The DOI is useful as a layer of a geographic information system and as a tool for revision of topographic maps.

Description

A digital orthophoto is a computer compatible aerial photo that has been geometrically corrected for displacement caused by terrain and relief. Orthophotos combine the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. The digital orthophoto in this block is a 30cm ground resolution and is in the Universal Transverse Mercator Projection (UTM), Zone 14, on the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83).

Lineage
Process step
Description The process consists of DiMAC aerial photographs that are radiometrically corrected. After the DiMAC photos are color balanced an aerial triangulation is preformed. The adjusted block is then used to create DOI. Photogrammetric ground file is used to correct for displacement in the DOI.

Data quality report - Conceptual consistency
Measure description Lake St Martin 30cm DOI have been rectified with a photogrammetric ground file, which consist of pass/tie/control points. Existing Control points were used to verify on the DOI. Tiles have been checked for tin and seam problems and fixed when observed. Each tile has been edged check against adjoining tiles for alignment and colour.

Data quality report - Completeness omission
Measure description Coverage of the DOI follow the client's outline.

Data quality report - Absolute external positional accuracy
Measure description All tiles produced came from DiMAC digital air photo at a gsd of 28 cm. DiMAC states the horizontal accuracy to be 1x of the gsd, in which case the horizontal accuracy is 28cm.
Quantitative test results
Value +/- 1.5 m

Evaluation method Accuracy value is based on the aggregate error inherent in the production process and the nominal output GSD of the product. Check Points came from photo identifiable points of a previous project on the Fairford IR. Control were in good locations to employ properly a shift and drift block correction plus the rectification using ground points.
