Dataset was created under request from Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation.

Description

Contours generated from a 5m resolution bare-earth DEM obtained from ground filtering of FLI-MAP LiDAR survey data for an area from Portage la Prairie north to Lake Manitobaand covering an area of approximately 624 square kilometres.

Data quality report - Absolute external positional accuracy
Measure description Raw LiDAR data is used to generate a triangulated elevation model of the terrain. The resulting elevations are compared to those acquired using ground based post-processed kinematic surveys along roads within the project area. Comparisons are also made for known such as base stations. Results are then averaged using the entire dataset. All values are in meters except sample size.

Process step
Description 1-metre contours were created and delivered as 3D lines in SHP file format. The contour file was cleaned and edited with all small contours removed and any smoothing procedure applied checked to ensure the positional accuracy of the contours was not adversely affected. The Z values of all contours are in metres.
