Metadata Catalogue
This data catalogue, in GIS terms called a "metadata catalogue" will contain our land data inventory. A metadata catalogue is essential for land data users since it captures what land information exists, where, and to what standards. The MLI metadata subgroup is creating an inventory (metadata catalogue) of all geo-spatial layers that currently exist within all provincial departments and agencies. The subgroup has started with the defined Core Data and then will follow with the cataloguing of all departments’ data by using FGDC (Federal Geographic Data Committee) metadata standards. (FGDC standards use a common set of terms that describe geospatial data, specifically who has been collecting what information, to what standards, and using what procedures.)
