Abstract:

Color 1:40,000 aerial imagery for the Vermilion River Watershed in Northwest Manitoba.  The images were mosaicked and orthorectified to produce one image.  The date of the image is July 2, 2004.

Purpose:

To provide high resolution imagery as a base for the extraction and/or identification of natural and man-made features in the Vermilion River Watershed.

Process description:

Color aerial photos were captured from a series of 5 flight lines at a 1:40,000 scale producing a total of 58 image tiles.  Photos used:  AG0408 Nos. 01-58.

Process description:

Seven Ground Control Points were collected using survey grade GPS by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada - PFRA Prairies East Region.

Process description:

Photos were photogrammetrically triangulated and adjusted to ground control points.  Individual 62.5 cm Ortho Tiles were cropped to 2 square km. on UTM Zone 14 NAD83 gridlines.

Process description:

Copied data from four DVD's to the network drive.
Imported all TIF files with had ECW compression into ERDAS/LEICA Imagine files. These new imagine files where then mosaiked into one seamless file with an uncompressed file size of approximately 9.7 GB's. This image was then moved to a PC with an O/S of XP and compressed using Mr. SID 4.1 and creating a compressed file of Generation 2 at a ratio of 15:1 creating an output file approximately 752 MG. Additionally another utility created by Mr. SID was used to create the SDW file which contains the projection information for the image.
